Chris Burnham’s passion for cycling began early, starting with BMX bikes before quickly evolving into a deep love for mountain biking. It wasn’t long before he entered his first race—a decision that launched years of competitive racing at an elite level on both dirt and road. That drive to perform sparked a parallel pursuit: a lifelong commitment to understanding sport science and biomechanics.

What began as a personal quest—“I just wanted to learn how to get faster”—soon grew into something much bigger. In 2003, Chris founded Burnham Coaching, channeling his knowledge into helping other athletes reach their potential. In 2007, Chris became a USA Cycling Level 1 coach, the highest level achievable through USAC, and began working with the national athlete development program. Over the past 23 years, he has coached athletes to National Championship titles and competing internationally while also guiding countless amateur athletes toward better health, performance, and longevity. Athlete development remains at the core of everything he does.

Within a few years of launching Burnham Coaching, Chris began his journey toward becoming a master bike fitter, working with and learning from industry leaders including Serotta Bicycle, BikeFit, Fit Kit, Medicine of Cycling, Retül, and Specialized. Exposure to multiple fitting philosophies allows Chris to work with a wide range of athletes and develop truly individualized solutions—because the best fit is never one-size-fits-all.
